Harriman Institute Oral History

Ahead of its 70th anniversary in 2016, the Harriman Institute at Columbia University embarked on an oral history project documenting its substantive role in area studies and academia and its influence on the making of U.S. foreign policy towards the Soviet Union, Russia, and Eurasia.  The project included in-depth interviews with 26 individuals, including directors, professors, staff, and senior affiliates of the Harriman Institute.  One may access the archive at the Harriman Institute Oral History website.

Several events have since been held to discuss topics relevant to the Harriman Institute Oral History Project, video of which can be viewed here and here.
