Institute for Research on Women, Gender and Sexuality Oral History Project

This 150-hour project details the history of the growth and development of the Institute for Research on Women, Gender and Sexuality (IRWGS) and feminism at Columbia. The project was produced in collaboration with the Oral History Master’s Program (OHMA), the Interdisciplinary Center for Innovative Theory and Empirics (INCITE), and the Columbia Center for Oral History Research (CCOHR). The project commenced in October 2014. This archive locates IRWGS, and Columbia, as a leader in the development of feminism in an academic setting during a time of rich and diverse social, cultural and political movements.
