CCOHR is dedicated to building the field of oral history, and making our expertise of use to the public. We do this through the Oral History Master of Arts (OHMA) program, our Summer Institute, and through public events.

Oral History Master of Arts (OHMA)

The Oral History Master of Arts (OHMA) degree program at Columbia University is the only program of its kind in the nation.

Through the creation, archiving and analysis of individual, community and institutional histories, we amplify the critical first-person narratives that constitute memory for generations to come.

OHMA is jointly operated by INCITE and CCOHR.

Bi-Annual Summer Institute

The Annual Summer Institute brings together a diverse group of fellows from around the world for advanced training in oral history.

The course features two weeks of advanced training in the theory and practice of oral history.

Participants work with world-class instructors, network with oral historians from around the world and go to exhibits in New York City.

We sponsor events throughout the year. These include a workshop series during the academic year, as well as regular conferences, lectures, and other public events on oral history theory and practice.
